Mother earth, providing inspiration for jewellery designs from the natural world – perfect for Mother’s Day inspiration.
With Mother’s Day a little over a week away, we thought you may be interested in our designs drawn from the natural world, from two of our favourite designers: Annabel Humber and Chris Lewis. Both originating from rural areas (Cumbria and Dundee), their handmade beautifully finished pieces reflect their connections with nature. Annabel’s designs of bulrushes, trees and butterflies are painstakingly cut out by hand (a technique known as piercing). Each ‘Master’ may take up to a week to make, and these are then cast as a limited run of each design. This ensures that her pieces are authentic, bearing her signed initials on the back.
Chris takes his designs from nature, simplifying the forms down to an abstract version, whilst retaining the textures that inspired him. He also continues working with each new design to ensure that they sit well on the wearer, changing and improving each piece over time.
