Learning about Ammolite

A recent refurbishment to an old 60’s silver and gold ring for one of our customers involved tracking down some ammolite. This is formed from the fossil ammonite, which has undergone changes deep in the earth over 70 million years ago. It is only found in Alberta, Canada, to become a gemstone. We were very pleased with the result, as was Jeff who sent this email:

Attached is an image of the ring you have recently refurbished for me as promised.
I must say it really is a fabulous recreation of my original ring that remains very special to me which unfortunately over the years became badly marked and lost its lustre and nobody seemed competent enough to undertake the repair until I came into your shop in Berkhamsted.
Thank you so much for undertaking something that potentially could have been a nightmare but turned out a “Dream”

Fordite; the ultimate in recycling chic!

When Lorena spotted Fordite on the last buying trip, she immediately linked its quirkiness with the unique qualities of Amulet products. Fordite comes from the old Detroit Ford factory, where cars where painted using hand spraying techniques, leading to a build up of many layers of colours on the tracks. Repeated baking made the paint hard enough to cut and polish, and give an amazing product. Fordite is becoming increasingly scarce, with the advent of computerised car spraying. Get some while you can!

Are you a group, organisation or individual raising funds for charity?
